Indian car manufacturer TATA is thinking about future as they constantly announcing Electric variants as they have launched the Tiago and Tigor EV while they launch it's fueled version, similarly they have announced the TATA Altroz EV while it's fueled variant got recently launched with 5 star safety rating by global NCAP. After the launch of the TATA NEXON face lift BS6, TATA is all prepared for the launch the NEXON EV.

 TATA NEXON EV

TATA NEXON EV is all electric compact SUV fully based on it's common counterpart. The car is going to launch in India on 28th January . The expected price is Rs 15 lakhs to 17 lakhs Ex- showroom. The Nexon Ev will directly compete with Hyundai Kona Electric and recently launched MG ZS EV.

Motor and Performance

The NEXON Ev will be having a 95kw Motor with a battery of 30.2kWh which will be giving 129 PS of power and 245 Nm of torque. The NEXON EV has 312 kilometres of ARAI approved range.

The battery is a Lithium-Ion which is liquid cooled and gets IP67 certification. The NEXON Ev can go 0 to 100 KMPH in 9.9 seconds. The EV version feels amazingly punchy and fun to drive compared to the common NEXON. Apart from that the car fells smooth while driving in the Drive mode while the car fells absolutely a rocket while driving in Sports Mode. The NEXON EV will be only offered with Automatic transmission with two drive modes (Drive and Sports ). The battery gets charged up to 80 percent in 60 minutes using a fast charger while it takes 8 hours to charge fully while using the home charger.

Features

The NEXON EV will come with all the features offered in the Top variants of the common NEXON. The NEXON EV will feature new features which were not available in the BS4 such as sunroof, cruise control, etc. Don't worry all these features are available in the new BS6 NEXON. The NEXON EV will feature  EV bodging and electric blue inserts to differentiate with the BS6 model. Talking about the interior which is heavily inspired with the ALTROZ, similar flat bottom steering wheel, Floating display infotainment system. The car gets while coloured roof to add floating roof design.

Safety features :-

  • ABS with EBD
  • Dual airbags
  • Reverse parking sensors and camera
  • Seat belt reminder
  • High speed alert
  • ISOFIX child seat mount

                                     etc.

COMPARISION

The NEXON EV will directly compete with HYUNDAI KONA Electric which launched in mid- 2019, while the other competitor is recently launched MG ZS EV. These cars are not made for Masses as the pricing is rather set at a premium range, while the newly launching TATA NEXON is going to priced smartly as the expected pricing is around Rs 15 to 17 lakhs which is range if the Masses.
Talking  about the technical specifications mentioned below :-

We can observe that being the most expensive HYUNDAI KONA gives the longest range and the best in class torque figures, while the MG ZS EV has the biggest battery still provides lesser range than the KONA yet has the best in class power output.

CONCLUSION

The TATA NEXON EV is basically for the population of India at this price range it offers more than needed features with the range of 312 km in a single charge. Whats more practical is the level of performance and the practical price range. According to me due to this price and the badging of TATA India population will accept the EV platform as the petrol and diesel cars.
