Honda PCX Electric
Honda has also entered in the Indian EV market by unveiling it's PCX Electric scooter based on the Honda PCX. Recently the scooter was potted in some of the dealership across India. After watching it's prime competitors such as Bajaj Chetak EV as well as the success of Hero Electric, Honda has also steeped in the EV market.
The PCX EV is basically based on it's Petrol powered sibling. Both the scooters looks identical except some futuristic graphics and headlamp styling. This scooter was firstly introduced in the Auto Expo 2018 as a concept vehicle.
The scooter offers a range of 41 kms in a single charge. According to me the range is less as in real life conditions the range will go down. Apart from that the scooter has 2 battery packs each with a capacity of 1.03kwh. Both the battery packs are exchangeable. the batteries take 4 hours to full charge if taken out from the scooter and charged separately, meanwhile these same batteries take 6 hours if charged with a conventional charger plugged to the scooter.
The Batteries are of 48V each which makes total of 96v lithium- ion batteries.
According to HONDA the scooter can easily tackle Hill climbing scenarios with it's electric motor developed by HONDA in-house, the motor outputs maximum power of 5.7 PS @ 5,500 RPM and maximum torque 18 Nm @ 500 RPM.
In India Honda has not launched the PCX scooter powered by petrol, but it claims that the electric variant has a extended wheelbase than the general variant, other than that all the things remains same.
FEATURES
The scooter is available with Single Chanel ABS in Japan , but there are no news on that about the Indian version. Other than this there are bunch of other features such as:-
- Digital Instrumental Console with EV System Information- The digital instrumental console offers all the necessary information, from speed, clock and EV system.
- Mobile Power pack Charger- The easy to carry charger for the scooter.
- Honda Smart Key System- It is just like the key less feature available in Cars now a days.

CONCLUSION
The scooter looks interesting , yet it gets less range which means its main USP is to be as an daily commute vehicle, For example going to work , Collage etc. There is no official launch from Honda, But the scooter was spotted in some dealership across India. There are fair chances of launch as EV companies such as ATHER ENERGY, HERO ELECTRIC are growing slowly yet steadily in the Indian EV market. This steady growth is showing it's effects as BAJAJ has also joined the part with the announcement of it's all electric CHETAK.Do let me know in the comment section that would the PCX ELECTRIC will grab attention in India or not ?.
