As laziness is harmful for a human body, similar things apply for a vehicle too. According to the current situation of the world, where the counties have applied lock-down to fight the pandemic corona-virus, So most of you people in support of the lock-down are not going out of your houses and so your vehicle too is parked for a long time.
If a vehicle is parked at a single place for a long time than that can be harmful for it, and may end up spending a lot of money to you car/bike, which you would never want. So here are 5 awesome tips which applies on both cars and bikes in order to maintain them during this lock-down without going out of your houses.

  • Parking Place

Parking place is very important, if your vehicle is parked in a garage than it's okay but ,if it's parked outside of your house in direct sunlight and harsh weather conditions than it might be a problem. Due to harsh sunlight and dirt the paint of your vehicle may get deteriorated and bird droppings may leave bad stains on your vehicle.
You should try to park you car/bike under any shade and use proper cover to cover your vehicle.
Most of you must have a bike, So try to park your bike on main or center stand if your bike has it, while this lock because it will help the liquids to be at a balance and reduces the threats of falling your bike. But if you don't have a center stand on your bike than use a paddock stand or else side stand is okay.

  • Regular Cleaning

It's not recommended to wash your vehicle regularly during this lock-down but instead you can wipe your vehicle with a soft dry cloth on a regular basis to avoid dirt and dust. You should do this at least once a week even if your car/ bike is parked in a garage or covered.
If you have a car than I would suggest you to clean the interior to while you're cleaning the car.

  • Start and idle it

At least once a week start your bike or car in order to recharge the batteries as well as the lubricant circulation in the engine.
Do keep in mind that while starting your vehicle don't give raise/ throttle/ acceleration, keep it idle for at least 10 to 15 minutes or more.
During this turn on your car's Air-Conditioner and blowers to remove foreign particles and dust from the cabin of the car.
For people having a bike, it's recommended to use kick starter over electric starter/self in order to conserve battery power. But if your bike doesn't have a kick than you can use the electric or self starter,

  • Move a Bit

While you start your vehicle, do move the car/bike in forward and backward directions 1 to 2 metres depending on space available. If a vehicle is not moved for a long time, than the sidewall of the tires will end up cracking and also can develop flat spot which will make your drive /ride uncomfortable, unbalanced and can be dangerous for bikes.
Also after this park your car in park mode if available on your cars or you can leave it in gear too. You can also use bricks and wooden blocks in place of using handbrakes. The reason behind this is if handbrakes is engaged for too long ,than it may end up jamming and you may not be able to move your car any further.

  • Lubrication

Lubrication is important in multiple parts of the vehicle when it is standing still for a long time. So if you have any kind of mechanical lubrication available in your house can be used. In bikes lubricate the clutch and brake wires and levers and other parts such as chains and sprockets. In cars lubricate places such as the doors and hoods anchor points.
Also if possible keep a minimum fuel above half a tank so that there shouldn't be any kind of rusting inside the fuel tanks.

So as there are a lot of different bikes and cars some need to use this tips once a week or even once twice a week or even once a month as cars and bikes now a days are a lot advanced than before. Still I prefer this tips to be done once a week and I follow the same to my bikes and cars.
