Maruti Suzuki pavilion showcased one of the most awaited Jimny in the Auto Expo. After the discontinuation of the Gypsy, we waited for Jimmy for a long time. Still it's not cleared that will it make it to India or not. The Jimmy lies in the light off- roading vehicles category.
Suzuki Jimny
The Suzuki Jimny is a light weight off roading vehicle. The car comes with muscular and rugged looks. The Jimny showcased in Auto Expo was the Jimny Sierra which is a three door off roader . The car comes with circular LED headlamps which looks retro while it also gets fog lamps on the bumper. The car gets twin grills with rectangular cavities. Talking about rear end it gets taillights situated on the rear bumper. The rear is pretty basic with the rear door and the spare tyre mounted on it. The car showcased in the Auto Expo 2020 in the Maruti Suzuki pavillion was a Japan specific variant as I guess.
Engine Specifications
The car is expected to come in two engine options, if it comes to India. It will get a 4 cylinder 1.5 Ltrs petrol engine which will produce maximum power of 100 bhp and maximum torque of 130 Nm, other than that there are expectations that it may offer a 1.2 Ltrs diesel engine too. But as we all know that Maruti Suzuki is going to discontinuing it's diesel engines,so there are less chances of the diesel engine to be offered. The car being an off-road vehicle so it will feature 4 wheel drive to conquer bad roads.
Apart from this the Jimny is sold in abroad with a 0.6 Ltrs or simply 658cc 3 cylinder petrol engine which produces a maximum power of 64bhp and maximum torque of 96 Nm.
Conclusion
The Suzuki Jimny will compete against the Mahindra Thar. It's predecessor which was Maruti Suzuki Gypsy was a huge hit in India
n market. After it's discontinuation people waited so long for this the Jimny, Still it's not confirmed will it be introduced in Indian market or not. That's the reason in this whole article I referred the Jimny as a Suzuki product as it was the Japan spec car.
