KTM recently was in launching smaller capacitive motorcycles, such as DUKE 125 and RC 125. In the nearest future we did expected the launch of KTM DUKE 390 ADVENTURE in India as it's been spotted road testing, But KTM has surprised us by launching the highest engine displacement motorcycle in India, Yes it is the KTM DUKE 790. 

Earlier KTM has DUKE 390 as the highest engine displacement motorcycle from KTM available in India. But now the the beast is here in the Indian market. Yes ,I know the most powerful and highest displacement motorcycle from KTM is the SUPERDUKE 1290, which is certainly not available in India. So, the most powerful motorcycle from KTM is the 790 DUKE as it's available in India now.

KTM DUKE 790

KTM DUKE 790 is the first twin cylinder motorcycle from KTM in India. It carries the same aggressive styling as all the motorcycles from DUKE has. So let me present the details of the beast.

LOOKS AND STYLING

The KTM DUKE 790 gets similar aggressive and sharp LED headlamp as the DUKE 390 and the SUPERDUKE 1290 has. As being a DUKE lineup bike it carries the same naked looks as we can see the frame and sharp edgy design on the body panels. The DUKE 790 comes with the two standard colours which KTM offers, Orange and Black. The bike in whole carries it's aggressive street fighter character in it.

ENGINE SPECIFICATIONS

The KTM DUKE 790 comes with a 799cc fuel injected Twin Cylinder Liquid cooled engine with 4 valves per cylinder. This 799cc engine produces maximum power of 103 bhp and maximum torque of 87 Nm. This engine is paired up with a 6 speed gearbox which is smooth. This engine justifies the character of the motorcycle.

FEATURES

The 790 DUKE comes with same TFT LCD coloured instrumental console similar to the DUKE 390, but the DUKE 790 console is much advance as you can toggle between many things. The motorcycle comes equipped with dual channel ABS and traction control which can be switched on and off on the rear wheel and can be adjusted with the help of the instrumental console.

Ergonomics

Talking about ergonomics the motorcycle has a 14 Litres fuel tank capacity and the approx mileage is around 22.7 kmpl. The motorcycle weights just 174 kgs which makes it the lightest motorcycle in it's class. It has a seat height of 825 mm and I think it would be uncomfortable for shorter riders. It has a ground clearance of 186 mm which is quite good for Indian road conditions. It gets 17 inch alloy wheels with 110 section front tyre and 150 section rear tyre, no doubt these are tubeless. The motorcycle gets Dual channel ABS which is switchable on the rear wheel , the front has a 300 mm disc with 4 piston radial fixed calliper and rear wheel has 240 mm disc with single piston floating calliper. Other than these the motorcycle gets 43mm WP USD (Up Side Down) front suspension and WP shock absorber with preloaded adjustable mono shock.

CONCLUSION

The motorcycle is just amazing thought it had tough competitions in market. The main competitors are the KAWASAKI Z900 and the SUZUKI GSX-S750. As I think KTM motorcycles are certainly best in beating their opponents by the popularity of the brand and there productions. The 790 DUKE will be the most feature loaded and lighter on pocket motorcycle in the upcoming time. The motorcycle is price starts from Rs 8.64 lakhs ( ex- showroom  Delhi) .
