Hello guys , today I am gonna discuss about the new KTM 390 Adventure which was revealed in the 2019 EICMA motorcycle show which took place in Milan, Italy.
This year KTM has launched a total of 4 new motorcycles in India, including the new 390 Adventure.
From last year after the 390 adventure was spotted being road tested, there were a lot of sneak peaks of the 390 adventure before even it was revealed by KTM. It' s reported the 390 Adventure will launch after 6 th of December.
So, lets look at what we get in 390 Adventure , Is it a true Adventure motorcycle ?
LOOKS and APPEARANCE
The KTM 390 Adventure posses a aggressive yet a proper touring / off roading motorcycle looks. The motorcycle gets the same LED headlights which we see on the DUKE 390 but the headlight is fixed to the body, there is no fairing between the tank and headlights as we see in the 1290 Adventure. The motorcycle gets a transparent visor, which is quite small for a touring / off roading motorcycle. Overall the motorcycle looks bigger and better than the Duke 390,
ENGINE SPECS
There is not much to talk in the engine department as it will be using the same 373.2cc single cylinder four stroke liquid cooled engine which we see in DUKE 390, coupled up with the same 6 speed gearbox. Although we have seen people using Duke 390 as a full time offroading motorcycle. So the engine can take on bad terrains. As we know it produces 42 hp and 37 Nm torque. According to me the engine would be returned for lower and mid range performance.
FEATURES
The motorcycle was just showcased in the EICMA motor show, So there us not much know about the motorcycle . All the standard Duke 390 features such as the TFT instrumental console and Dual channel ABS will be seen in the motorcycle, apart from that all the other detail will be revealed when the motorcycle will finally launch in India.
OTHERS
Comparing the 390 Adventure to 390 Duke, There is a lot of difference such as the 390 Adventure has a greater 200mm ground clearance and the fuel tank capacity is also increased to 14.5 litres. Being a touring motorcycle the 390 Adventure comes with upright and comfortable seating posture than the aggressive seating posture of 390 Duke. The motorcycle ( 390 Adventure) gets 19 inch front and 17 inch rear alloy wheels with 100/90 and 130/80 section tyres respectively. It gets a new set of suspension for tackling off roading situations, this new suspension provides longer travel of forks, 170mm and 177mm travel in front and rear respectively . It gets 858 mm seat height which is quite high according to average height of Indian people.
CONCLUSION
Overall the motorcycle can be used for touring and light off roading, as it gets alloy wheels which are not good for harsh off roading rides.
My Thoughts
I am really disappointed from the newly revealed KTM 390 Adventure as it says Adventure yet doesn't gets spoke wheels which is necessary if it's a full time off roading motorcycle. As well as the average height of Indians is 5'5 foot but the motorcycle offers 855 mm seat height which is sort of uncomfortable for people with height around 5 to 5'8 foot. This thing can be fixed if KTM launches India version with at least a lower seat height. Overall if the seating height is managed than the motorcycle is awesome in expected price of 3 lakhs.
