Bajaj Pulsar 125 Split Seat and Pulsar125 Neon Edition

As there is a trend going on the two wheeler market of portraying / showing smaller displacement bikes in the design or may I say, the looks of it's bigger sibling present in the market, For example recently launched Suzuki Gixxer 155, KTM Duke 125, KTM RC 125 , Yamaha MT-15 etc.

Following this trend not Bajaj is expanding the Pulsar range with two new 125 cc motorcycles. Bajaj has launched the Pulsar 125 Neon and Pulsar 125 Split seat version.

Earlier this year we reported the launch of Bajaj Pulsar 125 NS which was launched in Poland. The motorcycle was exactly similar to Pulsar 135 LS, which is discontinued now in India. But instead that we see a 125 cc motorcycle with the looks and features, frame of Pulsar 150 twin disc and Neon Edition.

Both the motorcycle uses the same 125 cc engine along with same tires, wheel, suspension and braking system. There are just cosmetic changes between the Pulsar 125 Neon and Split seat Edition.

So let's start with the Engine Specifications and Features as these factors are common / similar in both the motorcycles.

ENGINE AND GEARBOX

People are saying that the Pulsar 125 will have the engine of the Bajaj Discover 125 , But that's not at all true. This a brand new engine by Bajaj, comprised from the original Pulsar 150. This all new 124.4cc single cylinder four stroke two valve air cooled DTSi engine produces a maximum power of 11.8 bhp at 8500 RPM and a maximum torque of 11 Nm at 6500 RPM. This engine is coupled up with a 5 speed gearbox which is smooth. The engine is smooth but there are less vibrations.

FEATURES AND ERGONOMICS

Talking about features the motorcycles, it get the same iconic Pulsar 150 instrumental console. Both the motorcycles will get same ASB ( Anti- Skid Braking) system, which is just a new name of the combined Braking or Integrated Braking system.

All the other ergonomics are same as the Pulsar 150 , it gets same 790 mm seat height and 165 mm ground clearance, other than that the kerb weight is 140 kg which I think is a bit heavy for a 125cc motorcycle. The suspension are similar in both the 125cc motorcycles.

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN NEON AND SPLIT SEAT VERSION.

As I earlier stated that there are just cosmetic changes between both the bikes . So here are all the differences

BAJAJ PULSAR 125 NEON EDITION

The Bajaj Pulsar 125 Neon is designed upon the Pulsar 150 Neon Edition. The 125 Neon is designed as a commuter motorcycle as it doesn't gets tank extension nor it gets a belly pan. Apart that the motorcycle gets a single piece seat and a single piece grab rail. The colour scheme is also similar to the 150 Neon , as it gets similar matte black paint and neon badges and wheel rim stickers.

BAJAJ PULSAR 125 SPLIT SEAT

The Bajaj Pulsar 125 split seat is designed upon the Pulsar 150 twin disc variant. This 125 split seat version is designed a lot sportier and looks bigger than the 125 neon , It's due to the tank extension and belly pan which the 125 split seat version gets . Not only that ,as the name suggests it gets a split seat and a split grab rail. This whole small additions to the looks make the motorcycle look bigger as well as much sportier. The paint scheme is again similar to the Pulsar 150 twin disc variant as it gets a glossy paint, stickering job.

CONCLUSION

Both the motorcycles will give you same amount of performance and mileage, all depends on the looks which you need to choose. If you are thinking to buy these 125 cc motorcycles than you will get the them at Rs. 64000 to 66000 (ex showroom Delhi). But if you can expand your budget than do consider the Pulsar 150 as you will get a better bike at just Rs. 5000 to 7000 more as the Pulsar 150 Neon Edition costs Rs 71000 (ex showroom Delhi) and the standard version cost Rs 85000 (ex showroom Delhi) which is just around 20000 more. Yes, the Pulsar 125 will have certainly better mileage as it gets a modified carburettor, but still the difference between the 150 and the 125 in terms of mileage will not be that big.

COMPETITORS

This 125 cc segment is in lime light now a days as big brand motorcycle are getting in this segment as the Duke 125 and now the Pulsar 125. Although this segment is full of various motorcycles from various brands. This segment is quite competitive.
The Pulsar 125 has to fight against the conqueror of this segment in terms of sales who are 2 version of GLAMOUR 125 and 2 version of SUPER SPLENDOR 125 from Hero Motorcorp, 2 version of SHINE 125 from Honda. On the other hand the Duke 125 and RC 125 are the conquerors in terms of performance.

Will Pulsar 125 be able to defeat the conquerors ?
