Husqvarna Svartpilen 250 and Vitpilen 250

Husqvarna has launched two new motorcycles in the 250cc segment in Indian market. Husqvarna motorcycles are quite famous in international markets and it's two popular series are Svartpilen and Vitpilen, which comes with different engine displacements.
As Husqvarna two wheeler manufacturers have stepped into Indian market, So lets know about the history of the company in brief.
Husqvarna Motorcycles design, engineers, manufactures and distributes many types of motorcycles such as motocross, enduro, supermoto and street motorcycles. The company began to produce motorcycles back in 1903 at Huskvarna, Sweden. But the company was later brought by our very well known and favorite KTM, And sins than Husqvarna is the sub-brand of KTM.
On a single glance, you may fell that both the bikes are same , which is indeed correct. Both the bikes uses many similar components such as same headlamp setup, instrumental console, frame/ chassis, same body panels and even uses the same 250 cc engine which is sourced from KTM Duke 250. But there are many changes, may be minor but many changes which helps in distinguishing between the Svartpilen and Vitpilen . Lets see them
Differences
- Category/ class- The Svartpilen lies in scrambler category with a raised handlebars and straight yet comfortable seating posture while the Vitpilen lies in cafe racer category for which it gets lowered clip on handlebars and aggressive seating posture.
- Wheels and Tyre segment - As the Svartpilen is a scrambler so it gets 8 spoke alloy wheels with dual purpose tires to tackle loose soil or gravels on off- road situations while the Vitpilen being a cafe racer gets cornering comfortable tires for excellence grip on twisty roads with a 5 spoke alloy wheels. The tyre sizes and even the disc brake sizes are same on both the bikes which is 110/70-R17,54H for the front wheel while 150/60-R17,66H for the rear wheel, the disc sizes are 320 mm at front and 230 mm at rear.
- Dimensions - As both the bikes lies in different categories due to which the dimensions are also a little different from each other such as Vitpilen is 40 mm longer, 320 mm higher than Svartpilen while Svartpilen is 30 mm wider, 2 kg heavier than Vitpilen. Below is a comparison chart.
- Visual Changes - There are slight visual changes to such as the Svartpilen is slightly uses a heavier shade of grey as well as Svartpilen has a beautifully designed tank rack to mount a small tank bag. There are other minor things such as small silver accents on Vitpilen which Svartpilen doesn't has.
Engine Specifications
Both the bike i.e Svartpilen and Vitpilen 250 uses the same engine which I have mentioned earlier is the same engine which we see on the KTM Duke 250. The motorcycles uses the same single cylinder, 4 stroke, 4 valve DOHC, Liquid cooled, FI 248.76 cc which produces a maximum power of 30 PS @ 9000 RPM and maximum torque of 24 Nm @ 7500 RPM. Even they use the same 6- speed gearbox and gets Slipper clutch too. Both the bikes also gets dual channel ABS as well like the Duke 250.
Conclusion
As i think Husqvarna motorcycles would be popular as currently there are no motorcycles offering scrambler and cafe-racer looks at this price range and in this segment. You can find several motorcycle enthusiasts, who have built or designed their own scrambler or cafe-racer bikes out of Dukes and pulsars, as there were no such option of these were available in Indian market.
Husqvarna has launched the Svartpilen 250 and the Vitpilen 250 at an introductory price of Rs 1.80 lakhs Ex- Showroom Delhi.
